Cavity Critter Foundation Inspection Services
The Cavity Critter can perform a foundation inspection of the underfloor of your home and provide a definitive answer on the condition of the sub floor cavity and whether foundation repairs are necessary.
How do we book a job?
A client can book a job by filling out our ‘contact us’ box on our website and agreeing to our terms of trade. www.underfloorinspections.co.nz
This is our preferred method but you can call us on 021 450 969 if you require personal contact.
We undertake to contact the homeowner within 24 hours of receiving the email to book an appointment time. We also email the client back confirmation of the booking time.
An invoice will be sent to the client when the report has been written, no more than seven days from the inspection appointment. When we have received payment into our account we will release the report.
Cavity Critter limitations
The robot does require a manhole at least 300mm by 300mm. If for some reason there is no manhole we can, at a cost of $115.00 plus GST, cut a manhole in an appropriate place.
- Service pipes, lying on the ground bigger than 50mm can restrict our access to areas.
- Foundation walls left in place when the home has been extended.
- As stated before, a subfloor with less than 110mm available.
- Flooding.
- Building rubble can restrict access to areas.
We do our best to mitigate these limitations and as we have extremely good lighting we can generally see past obstructions to capture images of the areas concerned.
How is a foundation inspection useful to us?

The cavity critter provides a definitive answer on the condition of the subfloor.
- For engineers this can be a fantastic tool allowing clear planning on the type of repairs and where, and how they can be carried out. The guesswork can be removed.
- For builders it allows them to plan their approach to the repairs. Giving them knowledge of position of piles and also services.
- For project managers it allows clear and definitive pricing to be arranged before the job is started with less likelihood of extras being applied for. It is also a useful tool to check work done prior to a builder being paid.
- For a lawyer the report can provide irrefutable proof of the subfloor conditions along with quality of repairs done allowing for quick settlements.
- For the home purchaser it provides a clear view of anything pertaining to the structural integrity of the subfloor along with the condition of subfloor services.
